One of the top three selling points I first learned about when I went through Sound Therapy Certifications was Stress Relief.  I also think once you’ve experienced either Sound Therapy (and individual treatment) or a Sound Bath (group meditation with sound) there leaves no doubt in your mind that stress has left your body.  In fact, many people are so stress-free following Sound Healing that they barely want to drive or do something that might change how they feel.

But how does this happen?

While everyone is different and each experience with Sound Healing several possibilities could take place.

  • Your heart rate and blood pressure go down – due to the vibration and frequency in both your body and brain.  This has a stress-reducing effect.
  • You may produce oxytocin – and while this has many beneficial effects besides from stress reduction, stress reduction is one of them.
  • Feel-good hormones – your brain may start to produce “feel-good” hormones like serotonin.
  • All your cells are activated – sound works at a cellular level and causes your cells to communicate more actively and effectively which is at a lower stress level.
  • Sound works with water – let’s face it, we’re mostly made of fluid and sound healing is like a massage on the inside which is very relaxing.  You are vibrating inside.
  • You may experience jerking or twitching – we can often store our tension or stress in our body and part of the “de-stress” or release can result in a physical reaction.  This doesn’t happen all the time and it’s not always noticeable to some people when it happens.  It is a process of stress release.

This list represents what I consider the starting list of things that release stress with sound healing. There are a few other things that also have the potential of releasing or reducing stress but are dependent on the individual and/or the sound healer.

  • Meditation – If a person meditates during any of the sound healing, the potential for stress reduction is tremendous, especially if their consciousness shifts.  If that occurs, it’s a guarantee for stress reduction. The body follows the mind.
  • Grounding – If the sound healer uses a grounding frequency specifically, grounding to the earth’s resonance provides a great deal of stress reduction through the properties of the earth.  It should be noted that grounding by contact with the earth even without sound healing provides easy, stress relief.
  • In touch with Love – Through the use of specific heart-centered frequencies and/or a guided meditation focused on kindness, love, and gratitude a person can be made to feel overwhelming emotions of love.  These feelings will displace stress causing them to be released from a person’s thoughts and body.

Life comes with stress regardless of how stress-free your life may seem.  Emergencies arise, schedules are compromised, and conflicts occur.  It’s hard to escape stress-making situations which means you need to have ongoing Stress release methods to use. Sound Healing can have a positive impact on releasing stress from your mind and body gently and effectively.
